A former partner at Chicago-based Manifest Digital just acquired two St. Louis-based marketing agencies — Twist and Evolutionize — and plans to merge them with Chicago's 10X Lab.

Dan Curran wants to create a content marketing firm with a target of $7 million to $10 million in revenue. The newly joined Content Publishing Platform will be branded 10X Studios. "We have a pretty aggressive two- to three-year plan," he said.

At Manifest Digital, Curran oversaw content marketing and social media. He later spun out a social division there and rebranded it as 10X Lab.

Plans for Growth

The new firm will be headquartered in Chicago. Curran said the new firm is hiring about a dozen people in both Chicago and St. Louis, and plans to divide a total of about 50 employees between the two cities.

Curran said he’s looking for “hybrids,” people with backgrounds in storytelling and digital technologies — writers, SEO specialists and front-end developers. “10X Studios will be a role-model for the integration of technology and agency services,” Curran said in a statement.

Learning Opportunities

Twist specializes in integration of digitally optimized earned- and owned-media, working with key customers like Cordell & Cordell and Marriott on branding, web development and social media campaigns. Evolutionize provides marketing services for financial firms, working with Century Securities and other independent financial advisors.

The founder of Twist and Evolutionize, Craig Kaminer, will work with Curran for about 18 months to integrate the agencies. “We methodically planned a win-win scenario where I would take over [Kaminer’s] agencies,” Curran said.

Kaminer said his decision to sell was motivated by the growth of Twist and Evolutionize. “Following some recent health scares, it was incredibly important to me to ensure for my team and our clients that our agencies would continue to thrive with or without me,” Kaminer said in the release.
